GSPN Digital Mag – Volume 14 – SZN 13 Draft Recap

Written by Lou Fonseca

Welcome to Season 13 of the Gee League!
The draft is behind us, the rosters are locked, and the path to the coveted Gee Bowl Belt is set. This year features some new captains, familiar faces returning, and plenty of rookies eager to make their mark. And with a 10-game regular season, there’s no room to fall behind early.

Let’s break down each team’s draft, strengths, concerns, and our season predictions!

 Hawaii Green Wave

Draft Grade: A
Predicted Record: 6-4

Captain Tyler Gabriel made waves with an unorthodox but electric draft strategy, focused on an aerial assault with playmakers everywhere.
He built around Jalin Butler (Season 12 OPOTY) and Michael Casado (Season 10 champion), while adding potential Rookie of the Year front-runner Manny Diaz. Veteran linemen Matt LeComte and Timothy Steeger bring championship experience. Finishing off with Mr. Reliable Colin Harsin a break out season could be in his cards to add to the WAVE.
The question will be Gabriel’s leadership—can he keep this talented group focused and cohesive?
If they buy in, this could be a team no one wants to see late in the season.

Piff State Litty Lions

Draft Grade: B-
Predicted Record: 4-6

Captain Jerock Gaines went into the draft prioritizing chemistry, grit, and playmaking potential. He locked in one of the league’s smartest linemen in Robert Sihlanick, defensive anchor Anthony Nalasco, and two high-upside rookies in Devron Clark and Santino Mignone, both already flashing signs of ROTY potential. Piff will heavily depend on playmakers Ryan Bartlett and Ant Bun—they’ll need to elevate their game and lead the way if Piff wants to avoid another underwhelming season. Young gun Ethan Kuncken joins the squad looking to learn and grow in the Gee League environment. This team has the IQ and weapons; now it’s about putting it together on the field

Piff’s success depends heavily on whether their young players can produce early and if Jerock can keep this squad motivated.

Prime Time Seminoles (Defending Champions)

Draft Grade: A
Predicted Record: 7-3

The defending champs return intact, but their season story is already wild.
Captain Justin Laguna (coming off an 11-2 season and his 6th title) starts on IR and moves to GM.
Enter Chris Hogefere—a longtime Gee League vet and franchise owner, stepping in as acting QB and captain. His football IQ and chemistry with the team will be critical.
All eyes are on Steve Soletto. Having won every championship alongside Laguna, this season will be the test—can Soletto do it without Laguna?
This team is still dangerous and built to win. The dynasty continues… unless someone can stop them.

 Bincinatti Hellcats

Draft Grade: A+
Predicted Record: 9-1

The Hellcats walked out of the draft looking scary.
Captain Ashante Worthy remains the most athletic player in the league. Pairing Quincy Davis and Karnell Wactor—two-way game changers—gives Bincy one of the deadliest duos ever.
They kept their championship core intact, adding proven names like Nicky Barbiere and Jey Sev to play QB to their already loaded roster. Jey sev wit the wall of protections and the best WR in the game will be the reason this team wins or loses.
This team is the clear favorite on paper. Anything short of a finals appearance will be a failure.

 Rugrats University

Draft Grade: A-
Predicted Record: 6-4

First-time captain Jalen Hibbert wasted no time bringing back championship DNA. He drafted former captain and Season 10 MVP Nasir Dillard, along with core players Dyshon Day, Kris Hunter, and Josh Vuocolo.
The veteran presence of Tito Ruiz and Pedro “Byrd” Hernandez  will provide leadership, and rookie Jordan Seijo is the X-factor.
If they recapture the magic of Season 10, they’ll be in the hunt for the belt.

🎓 Blue Mountain State

Draft Grade: A+
Predicted Record: 8-2

Captain Trevor Louro, fresh off a Captain of the Year award and a #1 seed season, may have pulled off one of the best drafts in Gee League history. He reunited with his World Championship core of Charlie Barbiere (former MVP) and H3 Fraser (elite two-way player), forming one of the most dangerous trios in the league. Rookie QB Duval Cheatham—the early front-runner for Rookie of the Year—steps into a loaded situation with weapons everywhere. Veteran lineman Jordan Cameron and breakout athletes like Javier Duran and Michael Medina add depth, while rookie Rafe Cervone may end up being the hidden gem. This team has everything it needs to get back to the top.

 Alabama Crimson Chin

Draft Grade: A/B
Predicted Record: 5-5

Rookie captain Gavin Clark built his roster around veteran leadership and proven winners. Star two-way threat Lu Savage leads the squad alongside veteran Kevin Morris, dynamic athlete Darren Sims, and all-around playmaker Damian Johnson. Trevor Pruitt and Gavin reunite for chemistry from their Piff days, while sophmore Darrius Hartgrove who absence was felt in the gee bowl for the 1 seed BMS in szn12 –  rookie Ben Hartman rounds out the team, looking to make a name for himself. QB play will determine their ceiling—if they find the right trigger man, they can be dangerous.

The biggest question? QB play. If Clark plays QB, the ceiling drops. But if he can find someone else to command the offense, they’ll be a real threat.
They’ll be tough, but inconsistent.

 Notre Gang Goons

Draft Grade: B+
Predicted Record: 3-7

Original champion Jesse Hunt returns as captain and used the last pick wisely to assemble a gritty roster. He started strong by grabbing do-it-all weapon Tommy Pearce, who will be an early OPOTY candidate. Veteran center and 3x champ Stobie Gerena is back alongside former champion Isaiah Johnston, both providing leadership and playoff experience. Defensive anchor Dre Boogz is looking to prove he’s one of the top rushers in the league. The team also added versatile lineman Michael Corino who can play both sides of the ball. Rookies Jamar Lively and Frankie Antico round out the draft—both unknowns but eager to make a name for themselves. The Goons will battle every week, but question marks at depth and chemistry may make wins tough to stack.

On paper it may look one way, but will Jesse and the goons show us wrong?
